On offer here is this fabulous and rare Art Deco porcelain sculpture of a contemplative female nude after the model by Hans Rutz and signed by the artist. She represents the Germanic ideal in her looks and deportment and is depicted seated on a low stool, a long drape protecting her modesty, her chin supported by her hand as if in deep thought. Supported on an integral, narrow plinth with rounded ends which is incised with the sculptor's signature in script as follows. Made in the renowned Karl Ens studios of Volkstedt, Thuringia. In the 1920's and bearing an early green windmill factory stamp, as well as the words;'Ens - Porzellan - Volkstedt, and also the incised model # 5231-1.
